ToolLogix was not built by a software company that surveyed the construction industry. It was built by a construction company that got tired of losing tools.

Where this came from

We are Shellco Construction. For more than twenty years we ran crews, stocked a tool room, and lost equipment the same way everyone else does: a tool goes out on a Tuesday, nobody writes it down, and by Friday it is either on a different site, in somebody's truck, or gone. Then you buy another one.

We tried the usual fixes. Spreadsheets, which nobody updates once the day gets busy. Clipboards and sign-out sheets, which work until the sheet goes missing. Asset tracking software written for office equipment, which assumes your inventory sits still and your users are at desks. None of it survived contact with a job site.

So we built the system we wanted: fast enough to use with gloves on, simple enough that a new crew member needs no training, and honest enough to tell you the truth about where your equipment actually is. That became ToolLogix.

What we believe

The crew decides whether tool tracking works

Any system that adds a step to somebody's day gets quietly abandoned. Checking a tool out has to be faster than not bothering. That is why it is a scan on the phone already in their pocket, and why the app keeps working when the signal does not.

You should not have to buy hardware to get started

No proprietary scanners, no docking stations, no minimum order of tags. Use the barcodes already printed on your tools, or print your own labels. The point is to start tracking this week, not to procure a system.

One price, no tiers to decode

Every customer gets every feature. You pay $99 a month for your first shop and up to five users, then $5 for each extra user and $50 for each extra shop as you grow. Nothing is held back for a higher plan, because we could never work out why anyone would want that.

Who we work with

ToolLogix started in construction and it is still where most of our customers are, but the problem is not specific to one trade. Utilities, HVAC, electrical, aviation, home services, medical, oil and gas, and municipal departments all run into the same thing: tools leave a store, and the record does not follow them.
